About Kirsten Chalmers

Kirsten Chalmers is a registered psychologist specialising in educational and developmental psychology. Kirsten focuses specifically on young children and adolescents and their connections to kinder, school, friends and family.
Kirsten is particularly interested in developing the coping strategies of children and young adults, helping them rethink the ways in which they deal with challenges and find more productive ways of dealing with stress. “By developing effective coping strategies in the early years, children are not only better able to cope in their current circumstances, but these skills will be carried with them into adulthood making future challenges easier to face”. - Kirsten Chalmers.
Having worked as a school counsellor Kirsten is familiar with the processes and procedures of the school environment and is in the unique position to see the challenges faced by children, parents and teachers from their perspective, and work as a mediator between all to achieve a common goal.
Finally, as a mother of two, Kirsten is sensitive to the fears and anxieties held by parents when it comes to their children and therefore endeavours to offer solutions that are both practical and inclusive.

Rooms
Our rooms are professionally appointed but designed with children in mind. No leather couches, but instead the room endeavours to capture your child’s attention with toys, books and games at tables and chairs that you are more likely to see in a classroom than a therapist’s office.
